PG study options: The display and handling
In seeing the actual pages being created by the app (in development) I thought of some questions regarding the display and/or handling of PG programmes. This page captures my thoughts and is shared for discussion and feedback.
Subject available at UG only
We display the UG degree options (one or two, each in its own element). There don't profile any PG programme (i.e. the 'Lead in to' element is missing). We don't have any 'Explore postgraduate programmes' element.
Subject available at UG and PG
We display the UG degree options (one or two, each in its own element). We profile the best PG option if more than one, but accept that sometimes it is not worth profiling one (e.g. Commerical Law). We display the 'Explore postgraduate programmes' element.
This element should have a link and if followed display a simple listing page where 'selected' matching PG programmes are listed alphabetically (see WIP-800 for the AC). I say slected because we might not want to list all (they don't on current subject pages and for a few programmes there are not even web pages to link to.
We will follow this separate listing page for PG programmes, no matter how many of them there are. While it might look odd if there was only one or two (especially if they are 'profiled' on the UG page, we need the consistency for future and alternative navigation paths to these programmes.
Subject available at PG only
Only one PG programme
We relabel the heading 'PG programmes', display the PG programme with the same data as we have with UG degrees above. We don't profile a PG option. We don't display the 'Explore postgraduate programmes' (even though that (one programme listing) page still exists for alternative navigation paths.
Two PG programmes
We relabel the heading 'PG programmes', display both PG programmes as per UG degrees. We don't profile a PG option. We display the 'Explore postgraduate programmes' .
Three or more PG programmes
We relabel the heading 'PG programmes', the best one or two PG programmes as per UG degrees. We don't profile a PG option. We display the 'Explore all postgraduate programmes'.
