Sources of Content
The purpose of this page is to list the sources of content or where it comes from, either because it is repeated/copied over the site (and in wanting to consolidate this it helps to know the "home") or because it is pulled from an external system (and therefore the interface is a consideration when redeveloping this area).
Courses
- Course information is usually found using Course FInder (although there are some different routes in.
- This would benefit from improvements in WIP II, based on early student feedback.
- Information is pulled from Banner.
- Has some overlap with the information that will be provided by COO. Need to understand the differences and some actions may come from this.
Cover UG and PG
Subjects and Programmes/Qualifications
- Subject pages come from the school site (their "home") and are pulled through or copied on the faculty site and the Homesite. For example, Accounting is taught in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law, which is in the faculty of the Victoria Business School, and the subject information is also available on the Homesite.
- These can be edited in any of the places, with changes flowing through to the other two locations.
- Style is different according to location. Users mistake this for different subjects/programmes
- This only fully applies for applies UG subjects and programmes,
- PG is handled differently from school to school.
Staff information
- Staff information comes from two sources:
- Telephone exchange/IPFX: For phone number, title/honorific (e.g Prof), location, faculty and school (CSU), position/role
- Staff Directory: Manually entered; where staff are assigned to school(s), where research interests and publications are added
- This in turn powers the Research Guide and Media Guide
- Homesite and the school or faculty staff listings
