Bachelor of Commerce

Faculty site:

School sites: For the School of Management, the only one utilising the same content

Jane Young (Unlicensed), each school in VBS, other than SOM, has it's own unique approach to representing the BCom online. I assume that the content is unique (i.e. different ids, to be checked by Andrew Bredenkamp). Therefore, I have placed each school on a separate row in this table.

  • De-link faculty, SOM and home site equivalents
  • Check that structure page is not used anywhere except the faculty and school (home site only appears to have the first page, not two)
  • Delete two faculty and two school pages
  • Redirect all four old urls to the new degree page: http://stage.victoria.ac.nz/explore/degrees/commerce/about
  • Add a redirect link so that the new degree page appears in left-hand sidebar on faculty and SOM sites, in place of the main page (see left) but remove reference to the second 'structure' page.

Faculty contacts details: Replaced by VUW contact details

We don't mention summer trimester.

We say nothing on Maori Business. Do we need to? Current link doesn't work anyway.

We don't (yet) have examples of the degree.

Home site: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/study/programmes-courses/undergraduates/bachelors-degrees/commerce

Actions in the previous row of this table will leave home site page as the sole copy of this content. It is not required to feed International, which draws only on the subject pages.

Same content as faculty site above
Listing page

Also listed on the UG overview page on the:

Faculty site: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/vbs/study-careers/undergraduate-degrees

School site: See first row of this table.

SACL: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sacl/study/undergraduate

(BCom link actually goes through to the SOM, for some reason http://www.victoria.ac.nz/som/study/undergraduate/bcom)

Nothing to say here, but read comments above for SOM

SEF: Listing page http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sef/study/undergrad

  • Redirect all links for the "Bachelor of Commerce" to http://stage.victoria.ac.nz/explore/degrees/commerce/about
  • Ask SEF to reduce or simplify what they say about the degree on this page, ideally to a lead statement and a link to the new degree page. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
Nothing left uncovered

SOG: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sog/study/undergraduate

  • Add a link to the words "Bachelor of Commerce" to http://stage.victoria.ac.nz/explore/degrees/commerce/about
  • Ask SOG to reduce or simplify what they say about the degree on this page, ideally to a lead statement and a link to the new degree page. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
Nothing left uncovered

SIM: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sim/study/undergraduate/bcom

Jane Young (Unlicensed), the SIM has six unique pages to cover the BCom, more than even the faculty. This is probably because they restructured the majors in 2015, including introducing the two specialisations. I really need to talk through with them how best to handle all this content before having confidence in my proposed actions (to the right).

  • Ask SIM to reduce or simplify what they say about the degree on this page, ideally to a lead statement and a link to the new degree page. Other schools in VBS managed with this amount. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
  • Ensure a prominent link to the new degree page: http://stage.victoria.ac.nz/explore/degrees/commerce/about

Some of this content we cover on the topic page, even though they have it on the subject page as well as the degree pages.

School contacts details: Replaced by VUW contact details

http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sim/study/undergraduate/bcom/courses

  • Ask SIM if they need this page at all. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
All these course details are covered from the requirements tab.
 http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sim/study/undergraduate/bcom/information-systems-major
  • Ask SIM if they need this page at all. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
All these major details are covered from the requirements tab

http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sim/study/undergraduate/bcom/bcom-info-specialisations

  • Ask SIM if they need this page at all. As a minimum, no requirements (including lists of courses), as this adds another place they must be maintained.
.All these specialisation details are covered from the requirements tab.

http://www.victoria.ac.nz/sim/study/undergraduate/bcom/ug-restructure-2015

  • Ask SIM if they need this page at all. As a minimum, reduce it down to the transitional arrangements, but don't restate the new requirements. Note: For SOG, we have added a sentence on transitional arrangements for PUBL to the Important information fo rth emajor, linked to their document. Would the smae approach work here?
  • Redirect to http://stage.victoria.ac.nz/explore/degrees/commerce/requirements
Not covered at all.

  • Ask SIM if they need this page at all. We have used one of the same students in our topic page. If they want to keep this ask them to move it to another part of their school site.
Some covered by our pages at all.
