Phase | Questions/Comments |

1 - Discovery | Also includes initial sweep/ of audit and analysis across all areas Phases will most likely overlap, especially for specialist resources used for analysis and design.
|
2 - Faculties, schools and CSI | Will deliver CSI well before all F&S, maybe even before we have completed the first F. How far can we get by 1 October? Build new masters for data (especially courses, subjects and programmes) early and surface these (to replace existing content) on F&S sites as we go. This means the early rounds of engagement with F&S staff would be on their subjects and programmes. PS: Best to go live with a whole faculty at once, should include all school unless good reasons for leaving them till later. Can easily do more than two F in 2015, if we get going now |
3 - Postgraduate | Do FGR while doing PG, but must also understand implications to Research (as it is currently in global menu, not as in the HLS) |
4 - Research Centres | To what extent should the HLS for this include or address what is currently in the global menu "Research"? |
5 - Student information |
Questions/Comments about the whole approach
- From Paul:
- I want a push/surge/arrowhead/breakthrough/offensive phase between now and 1 October, with the aim being to have completed all courses, most subjects, many UG programmes and as many faculties as we can. This means parking larger and more complex faculties for now (I agree we should audit/scan to look for high risk areas or surprises but not tackle a faculty upfront just because it has these things) and deal with those "easier to digest". By this I mean evaluating on dimensions like tight/coherent/homogeneous, minimal student "leakage" to other faculties, clear pathways to PG, employment and down to recruitment, keen to work with us (attitude, not capability), etc
- I believe we should, to the maximum extent possible, align BAU work with project work to maximise the velocity and minimise rework and complex dependencies. This will been tough prioritisation decisions and closer working relationships between staff in core and in WIP.
- Do we need external assistance with IA (more from a capability perspective not capacity)? Would upskill existing people.
