    A good choice

    This programme is a good choice for several reasons—if you don’t know what you want to do but have an interest in conservation and want to keep your options open, or you want to study a postgraduate programme, have an interest in conservation, but are not interested in doing a thesis.

    Keeping your options open

    By choosing the Conservation Biology programme you’ll gain an excellent grounding and be able to complete it in a year. If you do decide you want to carry on with a research focus, you have not closed any doors.

    First-hand experience

    I’m a post graduate of Victoria and I loved it because of the hub that Wellington provides for interactions, from working with government departments and contributing to development of policy, through to on-the-ground action that makes a difference for conservation.

    The field course component is like eco-tourism with assignments. It provides an invaluable insight into New Zealand’s conservation landscape, and it’s an opportunity to see the inside workings of projects and make contacts for work experience.
