Architecture and Design

Fay Julian - Faculty Manager

Francis Saunders - Web Publisher (main)

above on maternity

  • One faculty site
  • Two school sites
  • Lots of visuals on site
  • More discreet piece of work
  • Their PG info has better structure
  • They want to push academic profiles more
  • Main web publisher on maternity so would have to deal with potential temporary member of staff?

Content is more aligned to future content approach e.g. postgrad

Does have separate sites for faculties and schools

PS: Looks like a good early contender.

Victoria Business School (Commerce)Ann Thomson and Kay de Malmanche - Web Publishers
  • One faculty site
  • Six schools
  • Accreditation commitments
  • Research split into - centres, institutes and chairs (chairs is unique to VBS)
  • Teaching matters - all staff content

Education
  • One site which includes the two school sites
  • NZROE is a research centre integrated into the site
  • Te Kura Maori (school) - this has bilingual content as well as audio files
  • Study information does not fit with the normal programmes and courses structure e.g. they offer programmes not subjects (major), and conjoint degrees at UG level
  • Teaching experience - all staff content

Discreet piece of work, and the school information exist within the faculty site

Will be getting rid of one of the school sites (Te Kura Maori)

PS: Consider the desirability and practicality of timing our WIP work with this faculty to coincide with the "removing" of one school site?

Engineering
  • One faculty site
  • One school site
  • Faculty admin run out of faculty of science
  • School site has integration of a wiki
  • A lot of video content that is not currently integrated on the site
  • Anything with the URL ecs.victoria.ac.nz/main is Wiki
  • Wiki has been skinned to look like website

Will the wiki stay?

PS: Maybe start by defining the purpose or need that it meets

Graduate Research (FGR)
  • One faculty site
  • Contains all PhD related content
  • Has events - integration with Bungee
  • Not a teaching faculty - admin based
  • No specific PhD marketing material

PS: I am unsure exactly how/when their work applies to other postgraduate students?

PS: Maybe best tackled in conjunction with Postgraduate Information, rather than as a F&S?

Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS)Melissa Gough - Web Publisher
  • One faculty sites
  • Ten school sites (including NZSM - bespoke site, not currently using Victoria templates, but hosted on Victoria server)
  • Lots of conferences so want conference templates, including online registration, abstract (documentation) uploads
  • Wai-te-ata Press, Confucius Institute, New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre, and IIML are separate sites in addition to the schools
PS: Do we offer good/solid conference functionality (or are we better integrating to others that do)?
Law
  • One faculty site, containing school information
  • Specific requirements the law school have to adhere to - need to confirm what
  • Events - want to tag events run by the separate centres within the faculty

Discreet piece of work, and the school information exist within the faculty site

PS: The one school one faculty relationship could make this easy for consolidation but learnings might not apply to other faculties.

Science
  • One faculty site
  • Five school sites
  • Statistics, Mathematics and Operations Research also has a Wiki (similar to the one used by Engineering)
  • Conjoint programmes with Education - not currently referenced

Toihuarewa
  • Is being merged into Maori at Victoria
  • Need to confirm to what extent (if at all) they remain in scope
  • PS: Seems like a good move. When would this happen and who resources it?
