In producing the following table I have tried to:
- Match the subject list from the web with that from the publications; and
- "Rationalise" the subject listing for a web/online purpose.
In doing this I have taken a number of steps or decisions, all of which are open to feedback or critique:
- Moved alternative subject terms to their own field: This both reduces the number of subjects and allows for more search terms to be mapped to any subject. Note that this new field could be fleshed out as a subsequent task;
- Removed "subjects" that are not really subjects or no longer offered;
Identified two authoritative sources of subjects, started reconciliation, became bogged down, pondered, found new way forward and am now abandoning reconcilation. Will write up new way forward.
