We must shortly take our subject grouping proposal to faculties for consultation. Having done as much as we could as a project team, obtained student feedback, we now need to share the findings with key staff in the faculties (and schools) for their input. The following key messages should help set the scene and keep the conversations constructive.

  • Our guiding objective has been "findability" for senior secondary school students, meaning how easily and quickly can they find what they want to study (or have been asked to look for)
  • We have used sensible/logical groupings of related subjects under the working title of "topic"
  • Some topics have been grouped under the working title of "megatopic"
  • Any resemblance to Faculty or school structures is only co-incidental
  • We have worked of the information available, being the current subject listings for the web, in publications and in the 2015 Calendar, as well as the subject descriptions on both Homesite and Faculty and School sites.
  • We will have made mistakes, omissions, and been unaware of changes in the pipeline and F&S staff can help correct these mistakes.
  • Our calls are all open to challenge, in that we are not experts in these fields.
  • However, we have spent many hours on this activity and had considerable student input.
