Enrolments are accepted in to any of the three qualifications.

Staircasing allows movement in both directions.

Master of Education (MEd)

At-a-glance

Length of study (in trimesters): 3 of full-time study or normally 6 if studied part-time

Can be studied part-time

Entry requirements

To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in Education, Psychology or a related discipline, or an approved teacher education degree, or a Bachelor's degree and a Diploma of Teaching from an approved institute for teacher education, with an average grade of B or above and
  • Acceptance by the relevant Associate Dean (Students) as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

  • Students who wish to enroll for this programme but don't meet some the entry requirements should contact the Faculty of Education to discuss their options.

Programme requirements

Complete at least 180 points.

Complete EDUC 503.

Complete further courses worth 150 points from EDUC 500-599.

Important information

  • Students who wish to enrol in EDUC 585 or EDUC 590 will need to achieve an average grade of B or above for all their postgraduate course work and a B+ or better in EDUC 503.
  • Students currently enroled in a BA(Hons) in Education who wish to transfer to the 180 point MEd may do so but will be required to abandon their Honours qualification. Students who have completed a BA(Hons) in Education who wish to enrol in the MEd must complete EDUC 503 and a further courses worth 90 points from those listed for the MEd.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDipEd)

Entry requirements

To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in Education, Psychology or a related discipline, or an approved teacher education degree, or a Bachelor's degree and a Diploma of Teaching from an approved institute for teacher education, with an average grade of B or above and
  • Acceptance by the relevant Associate Dean (Students) as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

Programme requirements

Complete at least 120 points.

Complete courses worth 120 points from those listed for the MEd, excluding EDUC 585 and EDUC 590.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCertEd)

Entry requirements

To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in Education, Psychology or a related discipline, or an approved teacher education degree, or a Bachelor's degree and a Diploma of Teaching from an approved institute for teacher education, with an average grade of B or above and
  • Acceptance by the relevant Associate Dean (Students) as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

Programme requirements

  • Total of 60 points required.
  • Complete courses worth 60 points from those listed for the MEd, excluding EDUC 585.
