Programme structure

The Master of Laws is available in two options:

  • 120-point programme by coursework: (Need statement to explain this option, maybe also the sub-options);
  • 120-point programme by courseswork and dissertation: Need statement to explain this option) and
  • 120-point programme by thesis: (Need statement to explain this option).

Questions

  1. Should I be describing the programme as having two or three options?
  2. What is the difference between thesis and dissertation? Are they both research (impacts on the values in 'at-a-glance')?

120 points by coursework

At-a-glance

Length of study (in trimesters): 2-3 of full-time study or normally 2 if studied part-time

Can be studied part-time

Starting trimesters: 1 or 2

Applications due: Standard dates for Trimesters 1 and 2

Composition: Coursework

Research component: None

Required contact: During working hours

Location: On-campus (Pipitea)

Entry requirements

To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

  • An LLB or LLB(Hons) degree and
  • Acceptance by the Director of Postgraduate Studies for the Faculty of Law as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

Important information

  • Students who wish to enrol for this programme but don't meet some the entry requirements should contact the Director of Postgraduate Studies to discuss their options.

Programme requirements

Complete at least 120 points.

Complete LAWS 518 and further courses worth 110 points from LAWS 520-582.
