Comments

  • I (think I) have now made all the changes suggested by Fay and Linda on 22/1/16. 
  • Added a duration/intensity (that really come in to its own for part-time only qualifications and PG (where there is a specified maximum duration as well as the standard full-time minimum)
  • Revised the entry requirements.
  • Fine-tuned the first degree requirement.
  • Reworded the elective requirements for each major, as previously the level was misrepresented.
  • Removed all non-requirement supporting information, as it is now in Gather Content for SME review.

Duration/intensity

The BAS represents three years of full-time study and may also be studied part-time.


Entry Requirements

To be accepted into the BAS you need to:

  • achieved University Entrance for at least one of the admission types; and
  • achieved an NCEA Guaranteed Entry Score (GES) of 180 points. Further information on the GES is available in the Admissions section.

Degree requirements

  • Total of 360 points required, of which:
    • At least 270 points must be from courses listed for the BAS
    • At least 210 points must be at 200 and 300 level.
    • Of the 210 points at least 180 points must be from courses listed for the BAS.
      • Of the 180 points at least of 75 points must be at 300 level.
  • Complete eight core courses at 100 level (in first year):
    • SARC 111
    • SARC 112
    • SARC 121
    • SARC 122
    • SARC 131
    • SARC 151
    • SARC 161
    • SARC 162.
  • Satisfy the requirements for one major (selected from the drop down list below).
