Degree requirements

  • Total of 360 points required (recommended 120 points/year).
  • Of the 360 points:
    • At least 270 points must be from courses listed for the BBSc or BAS.
    • At least 210 points must be at 200 and 300 level:
    • Of the 210 points at least 180 points must be from courses listed for the BBSc or BAS.
      • Of the 180 points at least 90 points must be at 300 level.
  • Complete eight courses at 100 level (in first year):
    • SARC 111
    • SARC 121
    • SARC 122
    • SARC 131
    • SARC 151
    • SARC 161
    • SARC 162
    • One further elective course.
  • Complete four courses at 200 level and the other 200-level major courses (in second year):
    • BILD 251
    • SARC 221

    • SARC 223.
  • Complete four courses at 300 level and the other 300-level major courses (in third year):
    • BILD 322
    • BILD 364
    • SARC 321
    • SARC 362.
  • Satisfy the requirements for at least one major subject (selected from the drop down list below).
    • 300-level courses may only be counted towards one major.

Supplementary information

  • SARC 122 may be replaced with an elective course by students who have at least 14 NCEA Level 3 credits in each of two of: Calculus, Physics, and Statistics.
  • BAS students share "a common first year . . interests and needs" (GUS, p.38)
  • Some courses listed above are also listed under the requirements for the major (selected from the drop down list below). Students only need to complete these courses once.
  • BBSc students studying both the Project Management and Sustainable Building Systems majors don't require any elective courses beyond their first year. BBSc students doing only one of these majors are required to complete elective courses to the value of 60 points, preferably 30 points in each of the second and third years.
