Re the PhD: "it usually involves between" ... suggest changing verb "to involve" (a lousy written English verb) to "to require" and add full-time students. Hence: For full-time students, it requires 3-4 years of original and sustained research under supervision. Or we could include "original contribution to knowledge" -- the standard definition of a PhD worldwide (or maybe "an original work that makes a significant contribution to knowledge."
