Standard image requirements/specifications
3200 pixels wide by 1800 pixels high (aspect ratio of 16:9)
- This image size is the most commonly used on responsive sites. When the image asset is created it creates three size variations small, medium, square and large. This means that the one image file can then use the appropriate sized image in the design and avoids having to upload multiple sizes of the same image. It helps us automatically create responsive image sizes.

Slideshow Guidelines
Image size: 3200 pixels wide x 1800 pixels high. We can work with images of other shapes and sizes by adding to the background. You can see a sample of this on the following test page – p.s. this is not the real Building Science page it is one we cobbled together for testing.

Banner Images - study-areas
Image Size: 2000 pixels wide by 620 pixels high
Content:
- Images should be abstract - yet still recognisable
- Images with people should be out of focus – ideally we would prefer not to have images of people.
- Images with close ups should contain depth of field
- Images should be of something that is related to the study-area and Victoria's relationship with the study-area
- Images must not be renders unless they are indistinguishable from a photo. The images can be photos of physical models.
- Example - : An abstract crop of a building that was design designed by a Victoria student.
- Image colours - avoid reds and redish oranges
...
- reddish oranges
Below is a sample of how a banner will look on a mobile and a desktop – please note this is dummy content and the width of headings and intro text is variable.
