To be accepted into this programme you'll need:


  • A Bachelor's degree
  • Acceptance by the Director director of Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study

Complete at least 120 points from 200- and 300to 500-level courses, of which:

  • At least 75 points must be at 300 level or above

Include courses worth 120 points from any of:

  • CMPO 200-399599
  • MUSC 200-399599
  • NZSM 200400-399599
  • PERF 200-399599

  • You may be required to audition for entry into Performance courses, or submit a portfolio of compositions and sound-based works for entry into  Composition/Sonic Arts.
