    Main Story:

    An interesting mix

When I discovered the interdisciplinary BA major of Education and Psychology I was curious about the intriguing mix of subjects. I have always been passionate about helping others and have a keen interest in people’s mental, social and emotional wellbeing. This major encompasses all of these, making it a perfect match for me.

    Practical skills

The Education and Psychology programme has provided many opportunities to pursue my passion and enabled me to apply critical thinking skills in real life. The courses highlight the educational, developmental and social issues within society.

    Loving it

The journey has been a challenging, yet exciting and rewarding experience so far. I am enjoying every moment drinking in the wealth of knowledge and taking in the zeal that is purely Victoria.

  • under After you graduate replace text with:

You might work in the public and private sectors as a wellbeing advisor, health promoter, support worker or policy analyst. Other jobs may include being a trainer or facilitator, an advocate or a programme and intervention developer. If you’re interested in the education side of things you could work as a research assistant.

Your background knowledge in child development and education can also help you in your career as an early childhood or primary school teacher, education officer or information specialist.

After further study you could become an educational psychologist for the Ministry of Education or other government department, work in private practice, or for a non-government organisation or trust.

about
  •  Alida Steemson (Unlicensed) they would like to enhance the 'After you graduate' block to talk about more than teaching. Below is the text they used in their latest handout, see if you are able to make the existing content broader. I have left the flyer on your desk with the bit highlighted.

Within these fields graduates have been employed in the public and private sectors as: wellbeing advisors, health promoters, support workers, policy analysts, trainer/facilitators, advocates, programme and intervention developers, research assistants, education officers and information specialists.

We have Holly studying 'English Studies'. Never heard of it. Is it an old subject or should it be English Lit.

If this is an older profile maybe we should bump it down the page.

Holly's profile: "KURA papers have been a particular favourite."

What are KURA papers? Are these a relic of the past or do we call them something else now. If KURA was a course code we wouldn't use it in a sentence like this.

Suggest we make this clearer or (my preferred option) drop the sentence.

In Matt Mc's profile, a paragraph is missing. This should sit under the first para, above 'Can reading...'

Understanding how people read

“My main area of research is reading, which stems from my interest in human cognition. Reading is a window into the inner working of the mind. It is an inherently goal-driven process: people read to find information to meet their goals for reading.
