General comment

  • Web team We encourage user feedback, from staff and students. We are always happy to discus what can be improved

Course information

  • Keen to speak directly to some of the administrative stAff to understand their concerns
  • Our Need to be careful when you mean CIP/COO pages and when you mean WIP/recruitment page, as the ownership and control is different.
  • Move to digital course outlines is in it's infancy and has bedding-in issues.
  • For the WIP/recruitment pages the user feedback is generally positive, or very positive, especially for PG
    • Keen to interview or survey your (prospective) PG students specifically. Do they need something different from PG student sin students in other subjects, or different from UG law students?
    • Access to full timetable wasn't a high priority need for the students interviewed.
    • Comparison with Auckland is not quite so simple, as we have four 'flavors' of LLM so we prioritise assisting users select the best fit for them. Then we give the details.
  • PDF of the course information schedule is doable, but you will need to ensure that it doesn't conflict with the course outlines and is updated annually.
    • While some programme lend themselves to this comprehensive course listing being automated, others don't.
  • PDFs are well recognised as being dated/poor for usability, so we try to minimse their use.
  • Keen to speak directly to some of the administrative staff to understand their concerns

News and events

  • Most issues listed pre-date the new faculty templates
  • Some are with Squiz to address or estimate/quote
  • More detailed feedback is possible in conversation with Tash, including some answers on how to work better/smarter

Academic feedback

Printing

  • Printing from a web page can always be improved, it is just a matter of the cost-benefit ration
  • Note that printing from web pages is problematic, in that each browser and each printer 'interprets' the print instructions add by the developer when the page is built.
  • We have made some improvements to the printing of course outlines and will continue to liaise with SAS on a better solution to printable outlines.

Look and feel

  • Design is a subject process and 'everyone' has an opinion. Our staff are professionally competent, yet still have to work within constraints (technical, branding, resourcing). We design listen to, and consider seriosly, constructive feedback, but can't please everyone.
  • While designing for mobile is important, we still weight heavily users with full-screen devices.

  • More detailed feedback is possible in conversation with Tash, including some answers on how to work better/smarter

Staff profiles

  •  We acknowledge that staff profiles can be improved.
  • WIP aspired to make new profiles, but this work was de-prioritised in lieu of recruitment content
  • Major work in this area will require resourcing, as it is a complicated space.
  • Small refinements could be considered, such as reordering some fields on the template.
