Programme structure

The Master of Information Management (MIM) is integrated with the Postgraduate Certificate Diploma and the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Management, which provide stepping stones to the full MIM for those who are uncertain whether they can commit to the entire programme.

Questions

  • Should we have a graphic to show nested or stair-cased programmes (e.g. see Master of Applied Finance programme)?
  • What language do we use to describe describe the stair-cased, integrated, stepping stones?
  • Can people move only one way (or a different way) or both between the programmes?
  • Is it easier to get an entry requirement exemption for the PGCertIM than the PGDipIM? For the PGDipIM than the MIM?

    Intensity: Three trimesters of full-time study or eight part-time.

    Entry requirements

    To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

    • A Bachelor's degree
    • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience at a level acceptable to the MIM Programme Director and
    • Acceptance by the Programme Director as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

    Students who wish to enrol for the MIM but don't meet some the entry requirements should contact the Victoria Business School to discuss their suitability for a possible exemption.

    Important information

    • Students
    may substitute the case study courses MMIM 590 with MMIM 592. Note that MMIM 592 has MMIM 552 as a prerequisite.

    Students wishing to incorporate courses from other Honours or Master's programmes require approval from the MIM Programme Director.

    1. Can the PGCert be studied full-time? If not, what does this mean for international students?
    2. Are there any more specifics on the meaning of 'relevant' and of 'acceptable"?
    3. The programme structure seems to differ between '2016 Professional Programmes', '2016 Master of Information Management' and the Calendar. Which do we follow? The details are:
      1. Calendar requires two courses in Part 1, one course (chosen from two) in Part 2, and electives from the MIM and other Honours and Master's programmes to make up the 180 points. 
      2. '2016 Professional Programmes' states two courses in Part 1, eight electives from the MIM in Part 2 and (tacked on at the end) an individual case study project with no mention of courses, points, parts, or MIM 592. 
      3. '2016 Master of Information Management' states two courses in Part 1, eight electives from the MIM and other Honours and Master's programmes in Part 2 and a consulting-style case-study project (MMIM 590, but no mention of MMIM 592).
