Programme structure

The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is integrated with the Postgraduate Diploma and the Postgraduate Certificate in Public Policy.

  • Enrolments are accepted in to: Any of the programmes
  • Staircase allows movement: From smaller up and from the larger down.

Entry requirements

To be accepted into this programme you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years of relevant work experience and
  • Acceptance by the Programme Director as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

Complete at least 180 points.

Complete three foundation courses:

  • GOVT 501
  • GOVT 502
  • GOVT 503

Complete four core courses:

  • GOVT 521
  • GOVT 522
  • GOVT 523
  • GOVT 524

Complete four research and elective courses:

  • GOVT 562
  • Three further courses from GOVT, MAPP, MMPM 500-599

Important information

Questions

  1. Is it necessary to state that an NZ Bachelor's degree if required? Not only is this inconsistent with most other VBS professional programmes, but it will deter international students. I have already removed it in anticipation of this answer (smile)
  2. Not sure that my course range for the last programme requirement will give the same result as the schedule (but I have no easy way of returning the courses in the schedule online so have tried this).

  3. There don't seem to be four optional (elective?) courses (as mentioned in the last bullet under supplementary information above). I seem to have three plus the research course. Is this also optional?
  4. Does GOVT 562 classify as research? If so, do we change the value of 'Research component' from 'None' to 'Little'?
  5. What does 'modular' mean?
